PASTURES NEW FOR SONYA WEBSTER, PRACTICE NURSE - 2/8/24

We regret to inform you that Sonya Webster, Practice Nurse is leaving Coldside Medical Practice on 13/8/24 to pursue her nursing career in secondary care at Ninewells Hospital. Sonya has been a real asset to our integrated healthcare team and will be missed by staff and patients alike.

We wish Sonya happiness and success in pasture new and thank Sonya for her valued contribution to the Practice throughout her tenure. The recruitment process for a replacement Practice Nurse remains ongoing and a further announcement is expected to be made in the coming weeks.

IT SYSTEM PROBLEM - 17/6/24

NHS Tayside is currently experiencing a major, ongoing IT issue which is affecting all GP Practices, including Coldside. NHS Tayside is working with a key supplier to remedy the problem ASAP.

In the meantime, our Practice is doing everything possible to enable patients to access GPs and other clinicians. We apologise for the inconvenience and ask for your patience in relation to this frustrating matter!

PASTURES NEW FOR DR HUDA AL-ZUBAIDI - 24/5/24

Sadly, today is Dr Al-Zubaidi's last day working as a GP at Coldside Medical Practice. Our integrated Practice staff team have thoroughly enjoyed working with Dr Al-Zubaidi since April 2023. Feedback from patients has been consistently positive.

In short, Dr Al-Zubaidi has been a great asset to our team and will be sadly missed. We wish Dr Al-Zubaidi continued success and happiness when she moves abroad for the next exciting chapter in her life. We are currently recruiting a replacement GP to help meet patient needs.

CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS WEEK: 20-24/5/24 - 29/4/24

MORE GREAT NEWS ABOUT DR NICK HEATH, GP PARTNER - 15/4/24

Following a successful locum arrangement, we are delighted to announce that Dr Heath has become a GP Partner at Coldside Medical Practice as of today (15/4/24). Dr Heath has worked in the Practice since Feb. '24, consulting from Room 3, demonstrating a wealth of experience, skills and abilities.

Feedback from patients, carers, family members and healthcare professionals about Dr Heath has been universally positive.

WELCOME TO PARK AVENUE PATIENTS - 2/4/24

We are delighted to welcome the new patients from Park Avenue Medical Centre, following the closure of that Practice on 29/3/24. We look forward to providing person centred treatment, care and wellbeing services through our integrated healthcare team.

EXTENDED HOURS - 15/1/24

The Practice operates an Extended Hours scheme during the following periods each week:

Tuesdays: 07.30 - 08.00; then 18.00 - 18.45

Wednesdays: 07.30 - 08.00; then 18.00 - 19.00

Services are targeted at patients in full time work and delivered on a face-to-face basis by Nurses.

Please note that the main entrance doors to our premises will remain closed during Extended Hours' operating times. Patients should press the buzzer beside the entrance doors to facilitate entry in respect of their appointments.

NEW PATIENT REGISTRATIONS, EFFECTIVE FROM 1/12/23 - 23/11/23

We are pleased to advise that new patients, who live within Coldside Medical Practice's geographical boundary, will be able to register with the Practice from the 1st of December 2023.

We regret having had to close the Practice's list in respect of new patient registrations and the inconvenience and difficulty this has caused, particularly during a period when other local GP Practices have also operated with closed lists.

RESTRICTED GP APPOINTMENTS ON 19/10/23 - 18/10/23

Due to exceptional circumstances, Coldside Medical Practice clinicians will only be dealing with emergency and urgent presentations from patients on Thursday the 19th of October 2023. The Practice's normal GP and Nursing appointments system will resume the following day (20/10/23).

We apologise sincerely for providing restricted services to patients on 19/10/23 and any inconvenience caused.

PATIENT & CARER INVOLVEMENT GROUP: COLDSIDE MEDICAL PRACTICE - 11/10/23 (P2)

The membership criteria is, as follows: 1) existing registered patient of CMP; 2) carer of existing registered CMP patient; 3) aged 16+; 4) ability and willingness to contribute constructively to the group's purpose and embrace our organisational values - see below:

PATIENT & CARER INVOLVEMENT GROUP: COLDSIDE MEDICAL PRACTICE - 11/10/23 (P1)

Coldside Medical Practice (CMP) is creating a new Patient and Carer Involvement Group to help shape and improve our services. The intention is to have up to 10 participants (5 -6 patients and 3-4 carers) who will meet in evenings for 1.5 hours (e.g. 18.00 - 19.30) 6 times p.a. within our premises.

The group will be chaired by the Practice Manager (David McCue) and will have regular input from other members of our integrated team, both clinical and non clinical. A Terms of Reference for the group will be discussed and agreed at the initial meeting which is expected to take place by 30/11/23.

YOUNG PERSON'S WORK EXPERIENCE - 15/9/23

We are delighted to announce that Arlene has joined Coldside Medical Practice in the capacity as Trainee Administrator as part of a yearlong work experience programme. The arrangement is flexable to enable Arlene to focus predominantly on her educational studies.

Arlene's remit includes improving the Practice's information management services targeted at patients, carers, families and other key customer groups.

WELCOME DR JAYAKUMAR RAGITTARAN - 2/8/23

We are delighted to welcome Dr Ragittaran, FY2 (Junior Doctor) to Coldside Medical Practice for the next 4 months.

Dr Ragittaran is working on a full-time bases, under the supervision of Dr Boileau, GP.

FOUNDATION DOCTORS - 20/7/23

Coldside Medical Practice employs Junior Doctors, commonly known as FY2s, who operate under close supervision by a trained Educational Supervisor who is also an experienced GP.

FY2s are qualified Doctors who provide patient consultations on their own. However, FY2 appointment times are longer than standard GP times, normally 20-30 minutes.

PRACTICE PHONE SYSTEM NOW RESTORED - 17/7/23

We are pleased to announce that the Practice's phone system has now been successfully restored.

Once again, apologies for the inconvenience caused by the temporary suspension of this key service which was outwith the Practice's control.

CHANGE TO PRACTICE'S POLICY ON WEARING OF MASKS/FACE COVERINGS - 10/5/23

The Scottish Government has decided that from 16/5/23, masks/face coverings no longer need to be worn routinely in patient facing settings such as medical practices.

Clinicians may still wear a mask if:

• a patient is likely to have an infectious illness

• a clinician has an infectious illness that they might pass on to a patient with a suppressed immune system

• a patient expresses significant concern that they are at risk and wish the clinician to wear a mask

CONFIRMATION OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PATIENT LIST - 1/3/23

We regret to inform you that Coldside Medical Practice is currently (as at 1/3/23) unable to register new patients, apart from the following exceptions for *immediate family members of existing patients:

(a) a spouse or civil partner;

(b) a person whose relationship with the registered patient has the characteristics of the relationship between spouses or civil partners;

(c) a parent or step-parent;

(d) a son;

(e) a daughter;

(f) a child of whom the registered patient is—

(ii) the carer duly authorised by the local authority to whose care the child has been committed under the Children (Scotland) Act 1995(a); or

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PATIENT LIST - 27/2/23

We regret to inform you that Coldside Medical Practice will be temporarily closing its list in terms of new patient registrations at 6pm on 28/2/23. The agreed closure period is from 1/3/23 - 31/5/23. This is the first time in the Practice's history we have taken such action.

Our Practice currently has just under 9,500 patients. Following the retirement of Dr Macmillan in December 2022; and despite Dr Sharma helping out as a GP Locum for 3 months, our recruitment endeavours to date have proved unsuccessful. Dr Sharma has decided to work in another medical practice.
